By Barca Blog - Coach Johnson commented on redshirt freshman Larry Smith during his interview with the 104.5 Wake Up Zone earlier today."With Chris (Nickson) and Mackenzi (Adams) last year, we weren't counting on Larry to come in there and do great things but we knew he was going to be a player in there somewhere or sometime for us because he's just too smooth of an operator to keep on the bench. It's good to have those guys available."
Smith will compete with Adams during spring drills for the starting quarterback spot. The Prattville, Ala., native made his first career start in the Commodores' 16-14 win over Boston College in the Music City Bowl, going 10-for-17 with 121 passing yards.
