ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Vanderbilt goes into the locker room with a 29-18 lead over Western Carolina in NCAA Tournament First Round action at The Pit.
Defense was the story of the first half, as the Commodores limited the Lady Catamounts to 21.2% (7-for-33) from the field. Center Brooke Johnson, WCU's top scorer coming into the contest, was held to just two points on 1-for-6 shooting.
The Commodores closed the half on an 11-2 run topped off by Lauren Lueders' 3-pointer with 1:08 left to give VU its first double-digit lead of the game. Christina Wirth led the 'Dores with nine points.
