by Barca Blog - With NCAA media day less than 24 hours away, I'm sure the main topic at tomorrow's press conference in Raleigh will deal with the Commodores looking to avenge last season's Sweet Sixteen loss to Maryland.
Vanderbilt head coach Melanie Balcomb addressed the topic during an interview yesterday on The Thom Abraham Show on WNSR 560 AM.
“Any time you’re a competitor and you lose to somebody, you want to play them again and get it back. We do want to play them and do want another shot at them and we want to do things differently."
One of those "things" will be to not let Maryland get out to another quick start. In last year's 80-66 loss to the Terrapins, Vanderbilt fell behind 11-2 to start the game and trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half.
"We need to come out ready to play," Balcomb added. "We came out very flat and hesitant against them, and then we played them even the rest of the game but we lost.”
