Halftime: Kansas State 38, Vanderbilt 37

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Kansas State goes into the locker room with a 38-37 lead in NCAA Tournament Second Round action Monday night at The Pit. It has been a title fight from the outset with each team taking the other's best punch.

The Wildcats used a balanced attacked on the offensive end and shot 60 percent from the field. Forwards Ashley Sweat and Marlies Gipson had success in the post, leading Kansas State with 12 and 10 points respectively. The Wildcats also converted from long range, hitting 5-for-6 from behind the arc. KSU capitalized off VU's six turnovers, turning the miscues into 13 points.

Christina Wirth (16) and Jennifer Risper (15) countered for the Commodores, scoring 31 of Vanderbilt's 37 points. Jessica Mooney had a nice half as well with three assists, two rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 17 minutes. Mooney spent much of the half guarding KSU standout Shalee Lehning and kept her in check. Lehning has four turnovers, four points and two assists. The 'Dores also took advantage of second chance points with 10.
