by Barca Blog - While we're sitting through a rain delay at Hawkins Field (and it could be a while based on the radar), I thought I'd post the possible scenarios involving Vanderbilt and Kentucky in their battle to clinch the eighth and final spot to next week's SEC Tournament.
Vanderbilt (31-23, 12-16 SEC) currently holds a 4-2 lead over Tennessee heading into the bottom of the third. Five innings have to be completed for the game to become official. If it doesn't go five innings and play cannot be resumed today, the game will be cancelled and cannot be made up on Sunday due to conference policy.
Kentucky (28-25, 12-17 SEC) is scheduled to play Florida in Gainesville at 3 p.m. CT.
Saturday's Scenarios:
If Vanderbilt wins or Kentucky Loses...
Vanderbilt advances to Hoover
If Vanderbilt is rained out, and Kentucky wins...
Kentucky advances to Hoover based on winning percentage
If Vanderbilt loses, and Kentucky is rained out...
Kentucky advances to Hoover based on series win over Vanderbilt
If Vanderbilt and Kentucky are both rained out...
Vanderbilt advances to Hoover
