Trailing 2-1 in the eighth, the Cardinals tied the game on Josh Richmond's leadoff solo homer to left. Louisville took the lead for good in the top of the ninth when Jeff Arnold scored on catcher Drew Robertson's errant throw to third after a pitchout. UL reliever Derek Self then retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to seal the victory.
Vanderbilt will get a rematch with MTSU in an elimination game Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. The winner of that game will have to beat Louisville twice -- on Sunday and Monday at 6 p.m. CT -- to advance to the super regional.
