By Ryan Schulz - Former Commodore netter Bobby Reynolds lost in the first round of the French Open on Tuesday to Gael Monfils of France.
Reynolds was defeated 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 by Monfils, who is seeded 11th in the year's second major tournament. It was just the second time Reynolds had competed in the tournament. In his debut last year, Reynolds advanced to the second round.
Reynolds' loss in singles does not mark the end of his stint at the 2009 French Open. He will team with Rajeev Ram to face Romania's Andrei Pavel and Horia Tecau in the first round of doubles play. Last year, Reynolds advanced to the third round in doubles.
