By Travis Young -- Vanderbilt men's basketball signee John Jenkins has been recognized in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the March 2 issue of Sports Illustrated for surpassing the 3,000 career point total in a 66-32 District 8-AA on Feb. 21. With his 3000th point Jenkins became the 19th player in Tennessee High School history to notch 3000 points, putting his name among players like Anfernee Hardaway and Tony Delk.
The future Commodore is currently the nation's leading scorer, averaging an impressive 42.3 points per game, including a career-best 60 points in a double overtime game versus Gallatin. Rivals.com has Jenkins listed as the 37th-best player in the country and eighth-best shooting guard in the class of 2009.
