Rogers on Vanderbilt hosting a regional

by Barca Blog

Following up on my blog post from last night....

Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com just released an article with his thoughts on teams that are still in the mix to host an NCAA Baseball Regional.

While Rogers doesn't project Vanderbilt as one of the 16 sites at the moment, he does believe the Commodores are one of four teams (with Auburn, Oklahoma and Oregon) that have a chance to be a potential host:

Rogers stated:
The Commodores have a legitimate chance to host an NCAA regional with a strong finish, but it made more sense this week to send them to Connecticut as the No. 1 seed. It isn’t a secret Vandy has several players with ties to the Northeast region. Overall, though, the Commodores are 8-9 against RPI Top 25 teams and 13-12 against the RPI Top 50. Vandy finishes the regular season with series against Mississippi State and Arkansas. The Arkansas series will be huge.
Rogers thinks Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida and Ole Miss would be the four teams from the SEC to host a regional if the season ended today.

The official host sites will be announced on Sunday, May 30, and the entire field of 64 will be revealed on Monday, May 31.
