By Barca Blog – It’s no secret that Vanderbilt’s basketball squad is stockpiled with talent.
The Commodores are returning 14 lettermen to the fold from a team that just missed the NCAA Tournament. Throw in the addition of the highest decorated recruit in school history, and the key to this season could be determining how to best utilize its weapons.
Head coach Kevin Stallings will get his first crack at trying to solve the puzzle tonight when the Commodores open up with an exhibition game against Alabama-Huntsville.
As tough as it can be to find that perfect chemistry on the court, having plenty of options will be a plus for Stallings.
“I think that this year, as opposed to last year, we have a much better idea of what it is that we do have.” Stallings said on the first day of practice. “We only have one new guy this year. Last year we had more newcomers than returners. That makes a world of a difference as you prepare in your mind and in your workouts for schemes and things like that. I think that makes a huge difference.”
