It all comes down to tonight

by Barca Blog - I just set up shop in the Patterson Stadium press box... We're an hour and a half away until Vanderbilt and Louisville square off for the right to play Cal State Fullerton in the Super Regionals.

Vanderbilt has fought out of the loser's bracket to make a NCAA Regional championship game once before under head coach Tim Corbin, dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker in 10 innings to Michigan at Hawkins Field in 2007.

I asked Corbin what it meant to be one game away from making his second trip to the Super Regional with the Commodores (The 2004 team swept through the Virginia Regional in three games).

"I don’t look at as much as going to a Super Regional as much as it’s another baseball game and we’re just in the fifth leg of it," Corbin said. "We’re just going to take the same approach we’ve taken. We’ve played four pretty good baseball games and now we have one left.

"This has kind of been our trail all year. We’ve kind of been one of those teams that’s had to battle through a lot of different emotional swings because of the youth and inexperience. But you know what? It’s made us a little bit tougher and I can feel that for sure."

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at Patterson Stadium. You can track the action here on VUcommodores.com.
