Commodore junior center A.J. Ogilvy has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for his performances against Missouri and DePaul last week. Ogilvy averaged 22.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in wins over the Tigers and Blue Demons.
The weekly honor is the first for Ogilvy. He won three Freshman of the Week honors in 2007-08, but this is his first POTW honor.
From the SEC Office:
"Vanderbilt’s A.J. Ogilvy was named the SEC Player of the Week after he averaged 22.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in leading the Commodores to victories over Missouri and DePaul. Ogilvy made 7-of-10 of his field goal attempts and went 11-of-12 from the free throw line to lead VU with 25 points and six rebounds against Missouri. It marked the ninth time in his career that he has scored 20 or more points in a game. He made 13-of-15 free throws against DePaul to score a team-high 19 points to go with six rebounds. It was the most free throws made by a Commodore since the 2003-04 season and helped push his career scoring total to 1,124 points."
Just a reminder that the Commodores take on Illinois Tuesday night at Assembly Hall at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game can be seen live on the Big 10 Network (Comcast-Nashville - 266, Direct TV - 610, Dish Network - 439).
