Ogilvy named to preseason All-SEC first team

By A. Boggs - Vanderbilt junior center A.J. Ogilvy was named to the preseason All-SEC first team by the league’s coaches in a poll released today by the SEC Office in Birmingham.

Ogilvy, who led the team in scoring and rebounding a year ago with 15.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, respectively, was one of eight players named to the first team.

VU picked third in SEC East by media, Ogilvy named to second team

By A. Boggs - Basketball must be close when preseason media polls hit the wire - and it must be here with the media's vote on the predicted order of finish in the SEC and their picks for all-conference and player of the year honors being released today.

The Commodores were picked third in the East by the writers covering the league, and junior center A.J. Ogilvy was named to the All-SEC second team. Kentucky was picked to win the SEC Tournament, and Patrick Patterson of Kentucky was the leading vote-getter for Player of the Year honors.

The SEC has the complete release here. SEC Media day is this Thursday in Birmingham, and VU's only exhibition game is November 10 at Memorial Gym against Alabama-Huntsville.
