Men's Hoops News

By A. Boggs -Incoming freshman John Jenkins scored 27 points at the 36th annual Capital Classic High School All-Star Basketball game at American University in Washington, D.C., according to Jesse Johnson of VandySports.com.  The game pitted the nation’s top high school players against players from the Washington, D.C., area.

“Playing against some of the nation's elite prospects, Jenkins scored a game-high 27 points but saw his U.S. All-Stars fall to the Capital All-Stars, 129-98," writes Johnson.

Jenkins also won the three-point shootout at the Capital Classic.

Jenkins won a “shoot off” against Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, a UConn signee, where he defeated Coombs-McDaniel 12-8 in the 30-second tiebreaker.  Jenkins made 16 threes in the semifinal round and 13 in the finals.
