Video: Catching up with Pedro

During his trip to Indy last weekend, Braeburn attempted to sneak onto Victory Field to get an exclusive interview with Pedro Alvarez.

I'm happy to report that the wily vet completed the mission (and did so without getting tasered by stadium security).

In the following video, Pedro talks about his season with Indianapolis, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, his relationship with former college teammates, and how he still keeps track of the current crop of Commodores.

In 33 games this season, Alvarez is hitting .256 with eight homers and 32 RBI for the Indians. Baseball experts believe he will be called up to the Majors sometime this summer.

Message from Pedro Alvarez on flood relief

Vanderbilt's baseball game against Louisville on Tuesday will be a special event to support flood relief and recovery efforts in Middle Tennessee.

The remaining 1,300 tickets will be dispensed on the day of the game FOR FREE through the Vanderbilt ticket office starting at 8:30 a.m. in the McGugin Center. The tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Monetary donations will be accepted for the Nashville Red Cross at the entrances of Hawkins Field. Also, collection centers will be on site for people to donate canned goods/bottled water for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
