Photos: Memorial Send-off for WBB

By Weinman

Faculty, staff, students and fans gathered Friday afternoon outside Memorial Gym to see the women's basketball team off on its trip to Cincinnati. Originally scheduled to leave at 2, the team's departure was delayed by about 45 minutes. The dedicated group pictured above arrived before 1:30 and almost everyone was able to stick around -- a big THANK YOU from everyone involved with the team for that kind of support.

I took a handful of pictures of our departure: Photo Gallery

Early sights from Memorial Gym

By Ryan Schulz

The tip is still 30 minutes away, but there has already been a lot taking place inside Memorial Gym. Here are a few tidbits.

• By 3:30, the student section appeared to be completely full.

• 65 minutes before tip, former Vanderbilt great Shan Foster is announced to the crowd over the public address system. He makes his way through the adorning student section shaking hands and signing a few autographs.

• A little under one hour before tip, Dick Vitale's first appearance draws a roar from the student section. Like Foster, Vitale makes his way down the student section, while shaking hands.

Arkansas writer ranks SEC basketball venues

Wally Hall of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette recently ranked his list of the toughest basketball venues in the SEC.

I'm going to be honest... I'm flabbergasted by where he put Vanderbilt in the East Division. I'm sure if you took a poll of each coach in the SEC you would have different results.
