The Commodore offense gave starting pitcher Sonny Gray an early cushion by scoring eight runs in the first three innings. VU ended up with more runs (11) than it had in its three-game series against South Carolina (10) last weekend.

Freshman Connor Harrell led the hitting attack with 5 RBI including a grand slam in bottom of the second.

Gray (5-4) went on to pick up the victory, his second in SEC play. That number should be higher considering the sophomore ace has received only five runs of support in his three conference losses.

The Commodores and Tigers will return to the diamond on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. Walk-up tickets are still available.
